For the past few years now, one of the most popular new themes in sneakers has been the “What The” makeup. Nike, through several heritage releases and new styles alike, have grown this clever execution into a hype-worthy release each time out. Now – although not technically labeled as such – the Air Jordan 1 gets its turn.
Featuring color blocking from the “Royal,” “Chicago” and Black/Red colorways of the classic 1985 style, the Air Jordan 1 “Top Three” lands in stores today following much anticipation. Although met with lukewarm reception from purists who often feel such releases dilute the essence of the Air Jordan 1, it’s actually styles like this that add nuance to the shoes continued legacy.
