Return of the cosmic slop.
One of the most funkiest tunes to drop last year was, well, Funkadelic’s jaw-dropping, surprising banger “Ain’t That Funkin’ Kinda Hard On You” remix.
The snarling, disco two-stepper took listeners on quite the ride back into the mid-to-late 70s – circa the famed Studio 54 days – and was drenched in enough funk that would make the late, great James Brown break out into a cold sweat. With some audio reworking provided by the venerable George Clinton and Louie Vega, the remix also boasted an icy verse by Kendrick Lamar. What’s also interesting is K Dot’s bars reflect those found in one of his later unreleased cuts, “Untitled 2″ aka “Blue Faces.”
Yet another remix surfaced – with an entirely different soundscape that fits perfectly within the G-Funk realm that has re-exploded onto the scene, accompanied by a fresh verse from Ice Cube, capturing the raw sounds of the West West. Listen below and purchase it on iTunes.
