The New Tudor Fastrider Black Shield in Black and White Ref. 42000CN

November 29, 2015

Tudor recently unveiled a new version of its Fastrider Black Shield, inspired by the Ducati XDiavel motorcycle. Save for its stark, monochromatic look, the piece is essentially identical to prior Fastrider Black Shield models. Tudor struck a positive chord with watch enthusiasts with its reintroduction to the US market a couple years ago (thanks both to appealing product and a hefty marketing budget), and I suspect this model will be as popular as any thanks to its color scheme which I think has broader appeal than other options.

But the 42mm sintered monobloc (molded one-piece) black ceramic case with white dial accents certainly gives the watch a distinct look as compared to the existing black/red and black/gold models. The crown and pushers are in black-coated steel. Inside the case is a Valjoux 7753 chronograph caliber with 46 hour power reserve.

The Fastrider Black Shield is available on a black leather (with white accent stitching) or black rubber strap, both paired with a matching black buckle. It is priced at $4,925, in-line with existing models in the range. Also worth noting, Tudor seems to be experimenting a bit with the sales process for this particular piece — as I read on another blog, the watch will only be available via special order through Tudor dealers or boutiques.
