Statik Selektah – “Harley’s Blues” (Video)

August 3, 2015

Statik Selektah recently had his first child, Harley Emma Baril, with his soon-to-be wife, Fran. During her pregnancy, their baby suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum, also known as HG, which according to the description of the video that put it in simpler terms, is “a disease that affects the pregnancy process for 2% of women worldwide” and one that “is extremely serious and can cause birth defects, as well as be life threatening to both mother and child.”

Statik’s last album, Lucky 7, closed with the song “Harley’s Blues,” named after his daughter. In the new video, the song also features his daughter’s heartbeat from when she was in the womb. It’s a touching video, as Harley was born healthy on Thursday, and Fran wasn’t affected. The couple wanted to bring attention to the disease through the video and suggest “more women and families to be aware and get tested if they suspect there is something wrong.”

Head to, where you can learn more about and donate to researching the disease, which doesn’t have much of a cure yet.

Watch the video below, and congrats to Statik and his wife on their new baby girl.
