In the early 1920′s one of San Francisco’s finest exports, workwear label Golden Bear – who are named after the state’s official animal – started manufacturing hard-wearing jackets for the longshoremen of the time, who had the back-breaking task of carrying cargo all day long on – you guessed it – their backs. These days, the California brand stays true to the heritage of its founders, being one of the only companies that still manufactures nearly everything by hand, which found themselves teaming up with the likes of Engineered Garments and Stussy, who are drawn to the originality and durability the brand incorporates.
A distinctive take on a classic piece of athletic apparel, the Leather Sleeve Melton Wool Varsity Jacket is constructed with a wool blend shell. Featuring a fully quilted lining, shawl collar, contrasting leather sleeves and welt pockets, it is closed with a full stud placket and is finished with a ribbed collar, cuffs and hem.
