Established in 1957 by Sam Tick under the name Metro Sportswear Ltd., the company original manufactured custom-ordered down-filled coats and heavy-duty parkas for a range of services such as the Canadian Rangers and certain city police departments in Toronto.
Changing its name to Snow Goose in 1985 after steady business growth due mainly to the success of their down-filled parkas, the brand decided to hit Europe with their highly insulating wares. However, the name ‘Snow Goose’ was already registered in Europe and not wanting to hault progress, the brand turned to the heritage and provenance, renaming themselves ‘Canada Goose’.
The Canada Goose name has stuck to this day and has become a proud bastion of Canadian culture and manufacture. The Toronto-based brand’s Autumn/Winter 2014 collection is a testament to some of the outerwear brand’s staples. All manufactured in Canada, classic pieces such as the Chateau Parka and Chilliwak Bomber with their distinctive fur collar hoods are sat alongside more technical, performance-based offerings such as Freestyle Down Filled Vest.
The Canada Goose Autumn/Winter 2014 collection is due to land in the coming weeks.
