For this Fall/Winter 2014 we’re excited to present COMME des GARÇONS HOMME and GANRYU. Launched in 1978 as CdG’s first ever menswear line, COMME des GARÇONS HOMME is where Junya Watanabe began his illustrious career. Blending his distinct aesthetic with modern detailing and tutored under Rei Kawakubo, Watanbe has consistently designed exciting and timeless collections under the CdG HOMME label. Our first delivery of the season sees a collaboration with the storied Italian clothier Valstar in the creation of an impressive fishtail coat alongside a subtle striped long sleeve thermal with contrast stitch detailing.
Under the CdG umbrella, Fumito Ganryu introduced his namesake line in 2008 and has pushed the boundaries of contemporary menswear ever since. Working previously as a pattern maker for Junya Watanabe and his CdG sub-labels, Ganryu developed his own design flare that has translated into a young and avant-garde line overstepping typical gender boundaries. GANRYU offers unique silhouettes and “neutral styles by combining opposing elements” in attempts to achieve what Fumito calls “universal items”. Through his ultimate goal of creating something completely new and distinct, Fumito aims to produce designs that inspire himself and others in the process.
