In celebration of Adidas’ longstanding connection with the city of Boston, Consortium have released two new editions of one of their most revered runners. Originally released in 1984 to coincide with and to mark the German brand’s association with the Boston Marathon, the Boston Super has appeared in many guises over the years, but for 2013 Consortium have decided to bring it back in its archive form.
This OG version of the Boston features a graphic midsole of white, red navy and grey standing out boldly against the blue and grey uppers, recreated directly from the original model. Paying tribute to that OG blueprint, Consortiums version features soft vintage suede, with mesh panels and leather detailing and incorporates Adi’s classic ghilly lacing system.
The second colourway seeks to directly celebrate the Marathon itself and was designed in collaboration with the Boston Athletic Association, the organisation behind the race. Again the premium materials used in the original shoe are applied, this time in a bold blue and yellow colourway. This bright take on the Boston has a predominantly navy look, with stabs of eye catching yellow at the laces and leather three stripe.
In true Consortium style, both versions of the Boston feature a woven tongue tab logo, adorned with the unmistakable Trefoil and Consortium logo’s and both launch worldwide on the 27th of April.
