March 22, 2013

NEIGHBORHOOD offers yet another ceramic piece of functional art this season with the Booze . Crow / CE-Incense Chamber. The Pottery Series from NEIGHBORHOOD features objects that incorporate original ideas from the history of porcelain items that were exported and “Made in Occupied Japan” while the US occupied Japan after WWII. Made from traditional Chinese Kaolin clay, the large incense holder features many references to the occult and black magic. A menacing Crow sits atop a human skull marked with the quote “Veni Vidi Vici” – latin for “I came, I saw, I conquered” made famous by Julius Caesar – all set on a book titled “The Black Arts”. Available now in limited quantities HERE.
