18 months ago Ronnie Fieg took a trip to Boston to meet with the very talented PUMA product team to start working on a new project. When he was asked what his dream project would be, the obvious answer was the Disc. The PUMA Disc is one of his all time favorite sneaker silhouettes, when it dropped in 1992 it way ahead of it’s time, supplying the sneaker market with a new closure system. Fieg was always a fan of the concept but was not a fan of the OG model with the asymmetrical toe box. At first he was hesitant to ask if he could create his own upper but realized throughout the meeting that the product team was extremely receptive. After an hour or so Fieg asked about creating the new toe and within a few minutes they started working on sketches. Once they altered the moc shape and finalized the toe sketch they began working on other concepts which included the “mud guard”, a strip of leather added to the vamp and quarter panel which was applied to the final sample. The result is the Ronnie Fieg x PUMA OG Disc “Cove” sneaker.
The Ronnie Fieg x PUMA OG Disc “Cove” will be available online at Kithnyc.com and
