This year, the much celebrated manga/anime series ONE PIECE will commemorate its 15th year in circulation. For the festive occasion, footwear label UBIQ designed pairs of limited edition Fatima sneakers, with inspiration drawn from Tony Tony Chopper, a popular character of the series. A valued member of Straw Hat Pirates, a mishmash group of odd characters organized by the equally strange Monkey D. Luffy, Tony Tony Chopper the Reindeer is actually an able medical doctor (the “X” marking on his hat is actually a medical cross), despite his child-like appearances. For its Fatima, UBIQ utilized several well-known traits and compiled them into the final design. Chopper’s cross markings, along with red top hat, are now part of Fatima heel counter. The shoes’ brown suede upper is a reference to Chopper’s brown reindeer fur while the black suede version is a nod to the t-shirt he wore. On the sockliner, an imprint of the two collaborators’ logos. Both colorways are now available at select retailers and online stores worldwide.
