Fat Shounen Sundays (Weekly Manga Review) : Old Boy

April 22, 2012

Oh boy~ OLD BOY! This is a classic manga with a great storyline. And it will keep you captivated for the entire way through. I remember reading this when when it released in 1996 and was only doin’ it to kill time. Somehow it turned out to be one of the most epic reads and I completed the entire series in record time! WARNING: Its that crazy addictive yo!

I am not surprised why they won so many awards. In 2008 they adapted this into a live action film (which we highly recommend you check out as well) because it is as amazing as the manga.

Alright… alright… I always blabber on for too long, so here goes the story!

The manga is about a 25 years old man called Goto Shinichi, one night he got kidnapped by someone unknown and got locked up in a private jail. For 10 years in pure solitary confinement, the only link between him and the world is through a television in his cell, reason for his capture remains unknown (not until you read further ;) ). After 10 years of his unknown imprisonment, he was suddenly released. Having the randoms taken away 10 years of his life, he dedicated the rest of his life hunting down the people who are responsible for all this.

I will say this again! The story is a thrill!! I don’t want to spoil anything for ya’ll, and i mean ANYTHING! The twists and plots written by Garon Tsuchiya is just MIND BLOWING!

Theres only 8 volumes so it will be a enjoyable breezy read! Guaranteed! ;)
