“We want to get the story into the shoe, aligning him with an idea. That he’s one step faster and this is a journey that is just beginning but that he’s also a person interested in the best, his values both as a player and a person.” – Fuller

Not only has adidas put a $200million contract up with Derrick, they have also allocated over 60 staff members to work on Rose’s line of sneakers. Insane you think? We bid to differ. Being one of the biggest money making markets in the world, adidas are putting alot of R&D, passion and time into making some of the best sneakers known to man. Their latest release adizero Rose 2.5 ‘Playoff’ edition is no different.

As Robbie Fuller, category designer for adidas mentioned, all the shoes released are tied in with Derrick’s personal life. The latest addition to the adizero Rose (pictured above) pays homage to the Bulls’ playoff tradition of wearing black shoes throughout the NBA Playoffs, with the midsole featuring a black on grey splatter pattern to represent intense play of the postseason. And also a way to usher the MVP back into the game after his groin injury. Welcome back Derrick! It’s playoff time!
