Chip and Dale are chipmunks who were classic Disney characters which would cause all types of trouble to the other characters. Chip and Dale were put on the shelf until they were revamped and given voices, clothes, and great new adventures.
Created by Tad Stones and Alan Zaslove, it featured the established Disney characters Chip ‘n Dale in a new setting. The series premiered on the Disney Channel on March 4, 1989, and after 65 episodes the final episode aired on November 19, 1990.
Chip and Dale are a couple of chipmunk who decide to run their own detective agency (Chip being the sensible one, and Dale being a glutton and wild) with their mouse friends, Monterey Jack who is a big adventurous character who provides the muscle, and Gadget Hackwrench who is the inventor, pilot and tech specialist. Another character is Zipper the house fly who is an old friend of Monterey Jack and possesses uncanny strength for his size.
The cartoon series was well written and had a huge variety of villains and regular characters. I loved coming home after school and switching on the television at 4pm just to watch this and then some time later it got moved to the Saturday morning Disney show. The cartoon covered so many themes such as crime, supernatural, action, adventure, and love.
Its very difficult to find cartoons like this these days as parent groups think it may be too violent or that the cartoon is purely made to motivate merchandise and toy sales. I watched some episodes of Chip ‘n Dale recently and they are still good and enjoyable even as an adult.
