The Tobacco by adidas Originals is a true terrace classic! First released in 1978 as part of an all round leisure/lifestyle range, it brought a sophisticated flair to the market when it was introduced. Similar in many ways to a lot of other early adidas releases, like the original Gazelle and the City collection (particularly the London), the Tobacco is a relatively lightweight, slimline silhouette that benefits from the comfort of a gum sole unit.
The shoe’s design is classic ‘70’s adidas; subtle and clean, which is probably why it’s one of the most desirable models from the adidas back catalogue, especially with the older adi heads.
A long time favorite with the casual scene because of it’s tonal 3-Stripe branding, we’ve seen some nice leather versions out so far this year but it’s in it’s original hairy suede form that the Tobacco is most sought-after.
Released as a size? exclusive as part as their Adi’s Archive collaboration series with adidas Originals, the wheat/titanium grey-brown Tobacco will be available from stores and online this Friday (2nd March) and to celebrate it’s return they also have a very limited run of collectable Adi’s Archive scrapbooks and postcard sets available to people buying the Tobacco from any of their 22 stores.
