Little bit of a background history, we grew up watching Mark Gonzales shred on the streets of LA (via videos we’ve bought) and he’s released countless amazing collaborations over the years and here is a look at one of his latest drops alongside adidas skateboarding. Before we go into the release, we’d like to commend adidas for taking such a big step into the skateboarding industry. We all know that it is a market that is super congested and over saturated with brands of all sorts, but adidas weren’t afraid to step into it with high quality products that could stand the test of the grip tape and blast their competition out of the water.
Take this Mark Gonzales Immotile sneaker collab for example. Not only did adidas team up with one of the most respected skaters in the industry, but also produced a shoe according to his specifications that will surely keep skaters feet’s smiling for months.
Adidas and Mark chose to turn a classic 70s performance cycling shoe into a skateboarding shoe with new and improved molded PU sockliner for comfort and shock absorption, tongue wings for support and stability and finally grippy gum rubber outsole (which are always handy for extra grip).
On top of all the technical upgrades to the shoes, Mark has also put some art to the shoe by inserting a painting of his on the bottom of the outersole. It’s really cool how they’ve used an all white gum sole with a transparent bit in the center of the sole to showcase Mark’s art. Definitely a shoe worth checking out in stores.
