“It is truly an honor to create a timeless piece representing the values of the Liberty Medal. Freedom and liberty are not gifts to be taken for granted, and we admire, and are inspired by those around us who spend their lives defending them.” – Hublot CEO Jean-Claude Biver.
Cool new watch here from Hublot, the Hublot Liberty Bang. It was unveiled last week at the Constitution Center in Philadelphia, PA at the 2011 gala dinner and presentation of the Liberty medal to former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. Hublot partnered with The Constitution Center and the “Liberty Medal” to create a special limited edition timepiece to be presented to recipients of the award. The Liberty Medal is awarded annually by the National Constitution Center to men and women of courage and conviction who have strived to secure the blessings of liberty to people the world over.
As I think about Hublot’s unlimited issuance of limited edition watches, I think this is one of the first (if not the only) U.S.-only model. The dial features a U.S. flag-motif that is formed by words from the United States Constitution as well as selected quotes from various signers of the Constitution (see closeup below). Limited edition of 100, comes in a 45mm black ceramic case, automatic mechanical movement and priced at $11,900.
