Saturday Monster Cartoons: The Transformers

July 16, 2011

I watched Transformers: Dark of the Moon, the third Transformer movie directed by Michael Bay and thought what better cartoon to look back at than Transformers the animated cartoon series.

Transformers is an animated television series depicting a war between the Autobots and the Decepticons. Written and recorded in America, the series was animated in Japan and South Korea. The entire series was based upon the line of transforming toys originally created by Japanese toy manufacturer Takara, which were developed into the Transformers line by American company Hasbro.

Transformers is one of the main cartoons who were making major bank from its toys, and I bet many of you readers out there know someone who used to own one. I remember my cousin had Hot Rod and my brother and I played with it so much my mum bought us Transformers too.

Very 80’s with its awesome opening sequences, good fighting against evil, and lessons to be learnt about being a good person which is ironically taught to us by robots. There are other transformer cartoon series but it will never be as good as the original, which ran for 5 seasons and an animated movie.

Kevin Monster out.
