Nike’s World Cup Ball Man

July 6, 2010

I would really like to see this in real life…it looks amazing!
Nike came together with Leicester-based, Ratcliffe Fowler Design to create a ball sculpture made of 5,500 footballs in a South African shopping centre. Ball Man, as it is called, stands 20 metres tall and is located in Carlton Mall in Johannesburg. They have used 10km of heavy-duty cable to hold each ball from the ceiling and the sculpture will be up until the end of the tournament. Once its all done and dusted, the footballs will be donated to schoolchildren around South Africa. Hit the jump to view more detailed images of this amazing creation.
